Iazua Larios, a vibrant Mexican actress, was born in the charming port of Tampico. From her early years, she was the cradle of her artistic inspiration, nurtured by the theatrical environment provided by her parents, both active members of a renowned theatre company. Iazua Larios’ home became a creative space where theatre rehearsals were her daily bread and butter, instilling in her a passion for the performing arts. By the age of five, Iazua was already participating in theatre tours, profoundly shaping her vision of the world and her love for the stage.
At the age of 18, Iazua embarked on a transformative journey to Barcelona, Spain, where she expanded her artistic horizons studying theatre, dance, film and circus. Her training was diverse and enriching, studying with masters of the stature of Javier Galitó-Cava, Javier Daulte, Txiqui Berraondo and Manuel Lillo, and extending her learning further afield to Italy, Belarus and Mexico.
The year 2004 marked the beginning of her outstanding artistic career under the direction of the Spaniard Gabe Ibañez, who directed her in “Máquina”, a short film that won awards at multiple festivals and earned Iazua Larios significant recognition. Her film career is impressive, including roles in films such as Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto”, Jorge Pérez Solano’s “Espiral”, Jorge Fons’ “El Atentado”, Philipp Stölzl’s “Winnetou”, and most recently in “Sundown” alongside Tim Roth and Charlotte Gainsbourg under the direction of Michel Franco, and Swiss Luc Walpoth’s “Peripheric Love”, starring alongside Fabio Troiano and Alessio Lapice in Italy.
On television, Iazua has shone as Malinche in “Carlos, Rey Emperador” for Televisión Española and in “El Cesar” for Telemundo. She also collaborated with the famous Colombian singer Juanes in the series of music videos for his album “Mis planes son amarte”.
In theatre, she was a fundamental part of “Microscopía Teatro” from 2005 to 2014, a company dedicated to documentary object theatre, where she stood out as a creative, actress and puppeteer. She has worked with directors such as Maricel Alvarez, Emilio García Wehbi, Gerardo Taracena, Roger Bernat and Ángel Hernández.
Iazua Larios lives a life surrounded by books, writing, filming and theatre rehearsals, always looking for new forms of artistic expression and leaving an indelible mark on every stage she steps on.
